Very Sincerely Yours // Kerry Winfrey
So this book was recommended to me by a dear friend from college. I'd read Winfrey's two other rom-coms was was completely enchanted. This is a book you can curl up under a soft, fringey blanket with a cup of hot chocolate (marshmallows are a must) and just shut out the fact that there are a lot of unhappy things happening in the world.
If you need a moment of respite before you gird yourself to go back out into the wilds of the world and fight injustice, I'd recommend this book. Great escapist read. I laughed a lot. Sometimes, banter is contrived, or predictable, and you can breeze through it, or not really care about it. This banter was witty, easy to follow, and just plain funny. Sometimes funny is at the expense of someone else's pain, or differences from "normal." This funny was situational, but also universal, and clean. Speaking of clean, this is a rom-com but other than some PG-13 language, no closed-door mattress mamba scenes.
And have you ever read a book about a puppeteer?? I hadn't, until now! Also, I definitely want to go to dinner at Everett's parents' house. I loved their emails, the meet-not-so-cute, and the You've Got Mail plot turned on its head. Funny, quirky, whimsical...Kerry Winfrey is three for three in my book.
